Micos joins Multiplex in celebrating practical completion of the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct, delivered for Health Infrastructure and ranking as Multiplex’s largest-ever project for the organisation. The new Acute Services Building spans 110,000 square metres across seven storeys, delivering a 60 per cent increase in ICU capacity and almost 50 per cent more theatres to meet the growing healthcare needs of the Hunter region.
The project has also helped build local industry capacity, with more than 80 people securing ongoing employment and training opportunities through the Multiplex Connectivity Centre, and the Jump Start and Jump Start Trades programs inspiring more than 120 women to explore careers in construction. An achievement of this scale reflects the collaboration of the full project team, subcontractors, consultants and delivery partners involved.

Micos worked closely with the Multiplex team throughout delivery of the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct, providing a high volume of customised punched windows in a captive system across the Acute Services Building. On a live healthcare facility of this scale, that meant holding the same level of consistency and quality control from the first window to the last, working through jockey sashes and a range of safety glass makeups suited to the different clinical and public areas of the building.
Micos also delivered the podium level facades and all glass system elements on the project, giving the team a single point of accountability across the building’s full glazed envelope.
